Remaining LGR Timeline
25/26 November 2025: Full Council and Executive to consider the draft proposals
28 November 2025: Deadline for submission of full business cases for local government reorganisation.
Spring 2026: Government consultation on proposals that meet the six LGR criteria.
After May 2026 elections (before summer recess): Government decision on the LGR model for Devon.
Autumn 2026: Structural Changes Order enacted – legislation to establish the new single-tier authority and abolish predecessor councils.
May 2027: Shadow elections for the new authority.
1 April 2028: Vesting Day – new councils legally come into operation.
